The Uttar Pradesh government has granted approval for a Rs 16,000-crore rapid rail corridor which will connect the two airports, the upcoming Noida Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, along with other parts of Delhi
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is working on a detailed project report which will be completed by March, 2024. The rail corridor will be a major boost in the greenfield’s airport attraction and will allow it to capture spill over passenger traffic from the Delhi Airport. After the project is started it will take four years to complete. The total travel time will be around 80 minutes
As per the proposal, the Noida airport link will branch out of Ghaziabad station which is one of the interchange station of Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Transport Passengers will be able to connect to the under construction Delhi-Alwar Rapid rail through Sarai Kale Khan, the originating station of Delhi-Meerut Rail. The Delhi-Alwar rail which is set to be completed by mid-2025 will have a station at Indira Gandhi International Airport along with Aerocity
While the Delhi Airport is operated by the GMR group, Zurich Airport has won the contract to operate Noida Airport. Other modes of public transport systems are also being developed like high speed bus corridors to connect the airport with cities with Delhi and Gurugram
The Noida airport is expecetd to be operational by year-end and runway asphalting and paving activity is underway, and the construction activity will be speeded up in the next few months. Partnerships are also being explored to develop retail and food and beverage experience at the airport
